Located in the heart of the Mbirikani Maasai conservation area, Ol Donyo Wuas Lodge lies on the foot of the Chyulu Hills in between the reserves of Amboseli and Tsavo West in southeast Kenya. Chyulu is a truly lovely part of the country, still with the same magnificent views across the plains towards Kilimanjaro, but virtually devoid of safari traffic.
Ol Donyo Wuas Maasai for “The Spotted Hills” is the name given by the Maasai to the Chyulu Range which runs between Amboseli and Tsavo National Park. This recently re-built lodge avails magnificent views of Mount Kilimanjaro and has a décor that is luxurious as well as homely and comfortable in the tradition of the greatest wildlife lodges.
Wuas Lodge accommodation consist of 20 beds in nine cottages. Two are two bed cottages, while others are two bedroom cottages with their own shared private sitting room and swimming pool. These two bedroom cottages are perfect for families or small groups of friends who prefer that extra privacy
The cottages all have rooftop sundowner / "star-beds" spot where guests enjoy dramatic views over the plains and onto Mount Kilimanjaro. More adventurous guests have the option to sleep out safely on these rooftops to enjoy a night sleeping under the stars. All bedrooms have a spacious ensuite bathrooms, Shower and bath, Twin vanities, flush loo and additional outdoor shower for those who prefer the outdoors. The main pool is available for relaxing in the afternoons.
Ol Donyo Wuas takes special care to create a menu that is exciting as it is varied from a choice of meals. Ol Donyo Lodge's dining area has been rebuilt and it has a whole new feel and character to it, without losing its home-like atmosphere. The dining room has been extended and now includes an outdoor brunch area under the acacia tree.
