Zikomo Safari is built from the ground up using all natural material and Zambian design. The chalets were built keeping in mind that we wanted them to be as ecologically friendly as possible. The eight hand made chalets reflex two unique styles of Zambian buildings.
The raised chalets are held up by Mopani poles and made from palm, thatch, sand and soils. With high ceilings and a viewing porch they have large bedrooms with both a double and a single bed with drop down mosquito nets, en-suite bathrooms, an outlet and decorated with local designs from Tribal Textiles.
All chalets are private, secluded and comfortable, combining old Africa and modern conveniences like hot water, a comfortable bed, an electrical outlet to charge your phone and room to move around. All nine are topped with porcupine thatch and screened windows. All our chalets overlook the Luangwa River.
Zikomo is spread out across the banks of the Luangwa River under a canopy of flowering shade trees. We designed Zikomo to have enough space around each building to reflect the open feeling of the bush.
The main lodge sits in the center of the camp because it is the center of guest activity; it is where we meet up for game drives and bush walks, where we take high tea and have all other meals, where the bar and lounge are, and in front of lodge are the swimming pool, hammocks, and walk ways to the five chalets north of the main lodge and the four chalets south of it.
We have WiFi available for those who want it. It is very necessary for us to communicate with the outside world. We have excellent chefs who prepare all food from scratch. Much of it comes from our large garden which sits behind the kitchen.
For our guests we also have a open air gym if you feel like working off some of the weight that comes from eating a little more on vacation than you eat at home. Laundry service is complimentary with our full inclusive chalets and available to campers if they so choose.
