Loisiijo Lodge Shompole, is named after the magnificent Tamarind tree around which it has been constructed, it is hidden away on the fig tree shaded river banks of the Ewaso Ngiro River, beyond Lake Magadi. Set within the famous Rift Valley, the Ewaso Ngiro River flows from the highlands of the Mau escarpment into the soda lake of Lake Natron.
The lodge is 170 km from Nairobi, for aircraft arrivals there is an airstrip some 10 km away near Olkiramatian. A 4WD vehicle is strongly recommended. A skilled driver in a high clearance 2WD vehicle could reach the lodge in dry conditions.
There are four independent bungalow/Cottages. Three bungalows consisting of one double & one sofa which can be converted into a sofa beds and one larger family bungalow consisting of one bedroom with two double bed and one large wooden deck with two sofas which can be transformed at night in two single beds.
Each bungalow has its own independent bathroom with a flush toilet, and an open air shower. Solar electricity is available in all bungalows. Two of them are equipped with fans.
All together, with children sharing with parents, the lodge can accommodate up to 12 people maximum.
Loisiijo Lodge is mainly self catering. The lodge is fully staffed with cook, room stewards and game rangers for walks and other activity. 90% of the staff are Masai from the nearby community.
The lodge consists of a large mess building with dining and sitting room overlooking the Uaso Nyiro River and shaded by huge fig trees lining the river banks. The style is simple and rustic built with local volcanic stone walls and thatch roofs made by the local Maasai women.
Although there is no phone signal at the lodge itself, there is both Airtel & Safaricom signal about 200 metres walk from the lodge.

•All food Stuffs, from tea, coffee, milk, salt, pepper, condiments, butter, sugar, perishables and non perishables, tin foil and cling wrap (if not prior arrangement for full board has been made).
