Originally built as a country retreat by Lords Valentine and Michael Cecil, Laragai offers unparalleled seclusion and comfort in a breathtaking setting. This private home, owned by George and Lucilla Stephenson, is only booked on an exclusive use basis.
It is a unique house in both style and situation. The interior of the house features the best in local furniture with luxurious carpets from Rajasthan and fabrics from London. The sitting room is ‘African Baronial’ with a thatched roof, enormous fireplace and animal paintings.
Opulent interiors invite fun and relaxation, whilst the grounds have a spectacular heated pool, tennis court and garden games such as croquet and bowls.
Activities include adventurous walks and drives to seek out Borana's wildlife, or horse rides around the extensive landscapes that characterize this area of Kenya.
Families with children especially enjoy going down to the waterfalls with a picnic or visiting the local community projects in Borana's neighboring villages. Laragai makes an ideal party house for anniversaries or birthdays.
Only available on an exclusive basis, Laragai can sleep 12 adults and four children in six large double bedrooms with en suite bathrooms and two children's rooms with a shared bathroom. The unusually large drawing room has open fireplaces at both ends and plenty of space for large groups.
Dinner is usually enjoyed in the large separate dining room, whilst breakfast and lunch are served on an elevated deck with panoramic views, or in the cool shade of the pool house.
