Offbeat Meru Camp is small, traditional camp located on the edge of Meru National Park in the Bisanadi National Reserve in a stunning location overlooking the Bisanadi River with beautiful riverine forest giving easy access to both areas for some ‘wild’ game viewing, away from the masses. With a wide variety of landscapes and habitats, it is dominated by savannah, yet has swamps and riverine forest.
The camp has six elegant and comfortably furnished tents, each with a large iron bed. En-suite bathrooms include traditional 'bucket showers' and flushing toilets. There is 24-hour solar lighting in the tents, whilst the rest of the camp is lit by traditional tilly lamps, which give a warm evening glow.
The communal lounge tent has comfortable sofas, a writing table, fully stocked bar and a good selection of reading material. Informal dining is hosted in the mess tent or by the open fire, overlooking the river.
The camp is staffed by a young and friendly crew. Delicious meals are served either inside the restaurant or outside in the open-air.
