The house is located in Karen, in the outskirts of Nairobi, on a 2.5-acre of land that blends the elegance of gracious living with the spirit of modern Africa in an exclusive and serene setting. It was originally built in the 1970s as a private home. It was acquired by its present owners, a local family, and carefully refurbished over two and a half years, resulting in the unique boutique property that exists today.
The name of the house bears all the initials of the family members, combined in order of age to form the word ‘Waine’. The house is only 2km away from the Karen Blixen Museum.
The house has 11 bedrooms that are all individually styled and named to reflect their different themes. Nine of the bedrooms can be single, double or twin rooms. Each bedroom features a large marble bathroom with plenty of natural light through the large windows.
The menu is varied and reflects the diversity found in Nairobi today, which ensures that most guests find something they enjoy.
Meals are served in various locations on the property (The Breakfast Terrace, Dining Terrace, Pool Pavilion, The Lounge or simply in the garden), which allows House of Waine to make each meal have a slightly different experience.
The pool bar and the main bar are exclusively for the use of guests staying at the hotel.
