Blue Canoe Safari Camp lies in Matema Beach in the most northern end of Lake Malawi. Built in a pristine area, with breathtaking views and crystal cleat water of the lake. Our budget and luxury accommodation facilities are constructed with bamboo, timber and reed and are thatched with local grass.
The location of Blue Canoe Lodge is a jewel, the beauty of the Lake with its crystalline clear water, the breathtaking view of the Livingstone Mountains, which are rising up 2000 m above the sea level together with our private swamp with Papyrus, water lilies and its avian treasures, it’s a combination that you will find nowhere else in Africa.
The lovely bar is well stocked and will offer you the chilled drink of your choice. Our chiefs are paying a lot of attention to our organic kitchen that is offering you mouth-watering continental and exotic dishes.
Boat trips, snorkelling, hiking, village tours and birding are usually on offer all year round. Hippos and crocodiles are domestic in the nearby swamps and are difficult to be seen. Many bird species are resident in our own swamp such as Kingfishers, Weaverbird, Herons, Falcons and Sea Eagles being some of the avian treasures found at Blue Canoe.
Lake Malawi itself is the third largest lake in Africa and probably the most beautiful. It is a snorkel paradise, as it inhabits just over a thousand species of fishes, more than the North American and European continents combined.
