This is one of the most unique places in Kenya with 50km of beach; there is certainly nowhere better to escape to. Nestled in the mighty sand dunes beside the old estuary of Tana River, this castaway styled lodge fashioned from driftwood washed ashore has seven open fronted rooms with incredible views of the Indian Ocean and Tana Delta.
There are not too many places left where you can sip tea with a 360˚ view of rolling lush untouched wetland, eye-level with the magnificent fish-eagles gliding on warm air above the dunes. The lodge is shaded by palms, baobabs and tamarind trees and looks out to the sea across a twenty mile stretch of wide, empty beach.
This lodge is set in such a remarkable location, a blend of "beach and bush" that is the perfect finish to any safari holiday or for those explorers seeking a different kind of beach destination with slightly more to offer, astonishes and continues to charm every single one of the guests and they always wish they could stay longer, or never leave at all!
The lodge looks out to the sea across a 50km stretch of surf-kissed beach and inland over the extensive delta of the Tana; a vast play-ground for hippo, crocodile and other wildlife. Birds of every size and hue abound as the Tana Delta is a recognised as an important bird area.
The lodge comprise of seven elegant en-suite cottages built from the driftwood poles and thatch shaded by palms. The cottages are completely open with spectacular views. Accommodation consists of family cottage which can accommodate up to four persons.
The swimming pool, spectacularly positioned a hundred feet up in the dunes, is a deliciously cool refuge from the heat of the equatorial sun.
