Ten comfortable, brightly furnished rooms with en-suite bathrooms look out over the panoramic shoreline. The extensive grounds and gardens feature a campsite and a large pool. There is a central dining area and bar, although dining usually takes place (weather permitting) under the stars. Each room has its own beach-view overlooking the Lake’s sparkling waters.
Chintheche Inn is set on the western shores of central Lake Malawi, characterised by pristine sandy beaches that are palm-fringed, and dotted by fishing villages and patches of lowland tropical forest. The beach has white sand, plenty of trees and very nicely furnished with local crafts.
The northern shores of Lake Malawi are among the country’s most beautiful and varied areas. Areas of tropical rainforest are cut by serveral large rivers flowing into the lake. The beaches here are the finest on the lake - miles of pristine white sand interspersed with jagged rock formations and charming fishing villages. Chintheche Inn lies in the heart of this magical area.
Uniquely for a lakeshore hotel, it is able to offer a comprehensive range of activities beyond the watersports and lake. Knowledgeable local guides are always on hand to lead birding walks in the area, to arrange visits to the local fishing villages, mountain biking trails and fishing trips with the local fishermen. The nearby Bandawe mission also provides a fascinating look into the country’s colonial past.
