Rose Lodge & 22 on Rose are located in Rose Street and Wale Lodge is in Wale Street 5 minutes away. These 3 guesthouses are small & cosy. They have recently been renovated and are located close to one another in the colourful historic Muslim “Malay Quarter” known in Cape Town as the Bo-Kaap, just below Signal Hill and the Noon Day Gun … an authentic canon fired every day at midday! It is one of the oldest residential areas in the city. The area has its own unique old world charm.
Whether on business or pleasure, it’s an ideal location from which to explore the city. The Bo-Kaap with its cobbled streets and houses painted in a myriad of rainbow colours is on your doorstep. We are a mere 5 minute walk to the downtown area, museums, shops and Greenmarket Square full of African artifacts and souvenirs.
You don’t even need a car as most things are within walking distance, or you can take the Hop on, Hop off bus which takes you everywhere you should go in Cape Town – even Table Mountain ! Taxis are also another option and they are very reasonably priced.
The fashionable and trendy De Waterkant Village is also just around the corner with its boutiques, restaurants, and nightlife. And Cape Town’s International Convention Centre and world famous Victoria & Alfred Waterfront are also within walking distance or a short ride away.
We are fortunate in having some of Cape Town’s finest restaurants just across the street at historic Heritage Square. Savoy Cabbage, Bizerca, The Headquarters, Africa Cafe and Marco’s African restaurant to name but a few are all within walking distance. English, German, French, Xhosa, Zulu, & Chichewa are spoken.
