Rhino Safari Camp is an authentic, owner operated luxury rustic bush camp. We can accommodate fourteen people in 7 twin bedded rooms (with children on camp beds where applicable and by prior arrangement).
Our rooms are stilted, built of wood with extended thatched eves and reed half walls, each with its own panoramic view of Lake Kariba.
Each room has its own en suite flush toilet, running water, hand basin and open air shower.
The camp grounds are untamed and unfenced, wildlife is free to roam through the camp grounds, elephant often visiting camp during siesta time, browsing on the dense jesse bush.
No fences no generator just the sounds and sights of nature. We offer guests their creature comforts, deliberately comfortable beds, walk in mosquito nets, hot showers, tasty freshly prepared wholesome meals, cold drinks and outstanding wildlife experiences.
Camp guides, hostess and staff interact with guests during all public times, sharing meals and experiences.
Game viewing is limited to a maximum of seven guests per guide allowing unobstructed wildlife experiences in our open game viewing vehicles.
Professional guides escort you to the rooms at night, and the camp manager and guide host guests during meals, tea time and around the evening drinks by the fire on the beach.
Weather permitting (most of the time) we enjoy dinner in our open air dining area beneath the stars.
We do not run a generator (unless in emergencies) and rely on a solar system for recharging camera batteries and electronic equipment, gas for cooking and refrigeration, and use woodfired boilers for hot
water. Our location on the shorelines close to the waters of Lake Kariba evokes the calming sounds and sights of water into the safari experience. Rhino Safari Camp brings you back to your sensory experiences of nature.

An early departure from camp means rising with the sun and eating a light breakfast of toast, fruit and cereals with tea or coffee and heading out in our open game viewing vehicle. Longer distances are covered in the vehicle, stopping along the way to examine interesting spoor, photograph birds and mammals going about their daily business and disembarking when interesting fresh tracks are seen. Following signs, the armed professional guide will lead you through the bush following tracks and clues. Depending on 'the news', the morning game viewing can last from a couple of hours to six hours, walking in different areas
tracking the big five, or pausing to photograph natures wonders in the clear light found in this remote unpopulated area.
Return to camp for brunch and siesta, regrouping in the mid afternoon for tea or coffee served with cake, and then heading out for a late afternoon drive, walk or sunset cruise. It is customary to pause to enjoy the sunset with a cold drink and sounds of nature.
