The Pool House is not only a beautifully restored old Lamu House full of charm and delight, it is also very artistically furnished and extremely comfortable. The swimming pool is kept immaculately clean, is the right temperature and very pretty. Stephen and Chakhi who look after the guests are polite, kind, helpful and discreet. Linen and towels were frequently changed, and the house was kept very well swept and cared for. There is a good selection of books on Lamu, on Africa and plenty of books by travel writers. The location is good in that it is in a quiet area slightly away from the busiest streets, but is only a five minute walk from the main busy areas and the water front. The courtyard is leafy and cool and there are plenty of lovely places to sit to read, sleep or dream away from the pool if required. All our meals were without exception delicious, and very nicely presented at table. We were made to feel very welcome and that nothing was too much trouble.. We would have wonderful adventures by day in Lamu and at sea and return to our oasis of cool, calm and tranquility anticipating our lovingly prepared dinner which never disappointed. If I could give more than 5 points for anything I would! All the family agrees. We would love to return one day. PS: The only thing Chakhi and Stephen need is a milk jug! (For hot milk with coffee.. for cold milk with tea etc). We got by with a teacup for a jug! We tried to buy one, visiting no less than 6 hardware stores in town, but we couldn't find one that was nice enough to match the Chinese porcelain.. We promised we will bring one when we return one day! With many thanks to Jan-Hendrik from us all, Celia and Christopher, Edmund and Mildred, Francie and the children.
