A small boutique hotel situated on the north east coast of Zanzibar island and only 50 minutes away from Stone Town. The hotel was built in 2007 using the highest quality local materials, and specifically designed for pure tranquillity and relaxation. It is also located on the longest stretch of uninterrupted stunning beach of white coral sand, making it the perfect place for long walks any time of the day and for swimming at high tide.
The hotel faces the longest stretch of finest white coral sand on the Spice Island, making it a perfect location for long walks and swimming at high tide. Matemwe beach is located a few meters away from your breakfast table and is the longest beach on the island. The white powdery coral sand invites you to relaxing walks, swimming when not low tide, or perhaps a bike ride?
If you just want to relax, you are offered with a soft matress-covered Swahili beds and palm-leaf parasols. The view is the sky, sea and beach. You can also study the villagers’ everyday life at close distance: women who grow sea weed, men who are arranging their boats and fishing gear, children walking to school.
The pool beside the hotel building is the cooling pool (16 x 8 meters), surrounded by a limestone terrace with comfortable sun loungers. Lye in the sun, or under the shady parasols, surrounded by passion fruit plants. When you close your eyes you hear the oceans’ roar from the reef off the horizon
The hotel has twelve double rooms, but triple or family accommodation can be arranged. All rooms contain all the necessary amenities; air conditioning, wireless Internet access and ceiling / floor fan. The rooms are decorated in a typical Zanzibarian style, with furnishings in beautifully carved dark wood, canopy beds (king size, twin or single) with mosquito nets, and bedside tables and wardrobes. Other decor varies from room to room.
All rooms have of course a private bathroom with shower (except for family accommodation where two rooms share a bathroom).
