The lodge is located right on the stuning Mfumbwi beach in Jambiani on the south east coast of Zanzibar. Jambiani is a small fishing village with a long white sandy beach and many palmtrees. It can be reached from the capital stone town through a tarmac road in a one hour drive.
Kizimkazi (dolphin watching) and Paje are a 10/15 minute drive away and jozani forest or chwaka bay can be reached in about 25 minutes.
Completely restructured in the autumn of 2010, the lodge is positioned right on the sandy beach next to a small tropical forest, home to the red colour monkeys lending their name to the lodge. In front is a 2 km long sandbank that stretches out from the beach into the water. About 2 km from the shore is a barrier reef.
The setup consists of seven one-storey bungalows, with a total of nine rooms, with traditional Makuti roofing. The pathways between the small tropical garden are covered with sand, allowing our guests to live a real barefoot experience. The garden has plants such as aloe vera, lemongrass, papaya, banana and palm trees.
