We have 4 individually decorated guest cottages at the farm all named after famous explorers. There are three doubles and one twin cottage all en suite and all decorated with four-poster beds dating from the British Raj, fine antique Persian carpets and comfy chairs designed to encourage relaxation and reflection.

King or twin beds available on request.

Olepangi Farm is a 35-minute drive from Nanyuki which lies on the equator and in the foothills of Mt Kenya, the second largest mountain in Africa at more than 17,000 feet.

The farm is “on the edge” in the sense that it straddles that unique ecozone where most of the finest roses in the world are supplied to markets of Europe, grown in the wild hinterland of Northern Kenya. On the farm's northern boundary are guesthouses which look out onto the stunning 36,000-acre Ole Naishu Ranch, a working cattle ranch full of wildlife. This ranch then in turns connects with millions of acres of bushland including Lolldaiga Hills, Borana, Ol Jogi, Mpala Ranch and so on and so forth. The property is protected by a low-lying elephant fence.

The farm enjoys stunning, un-interrupted long views north to the Lolldaiga Hills and sublime views south to Mt Kenya. On clear days, look west to marvel at the full Aberdare mountain range and the Laikipia plains.

Olepangi Farm is the home of the Lucy Family, long-term residents of Kenya. Originally the land was separated into many different plots of farm land and was tired and overgrazed. Today the farm is a total of 120 acres and the land has been lovingly restored back to its former glory. A massive tree planting project was launched with over 2,000 trees being planted in the first year.

All of the furniture in the lodge is from a personal collection accumulated over 30 years of travelling all over the world. In every room you will find indigenous textiles, quirky antique furniture and beautiful objects d’art.

Facilities:

Meals are served communally either on our breakfast deck, on the veranda or in the Party House. The impressive Party House is the main social hub of the farm and we encourage people to come down and make themselves feel at home. Kick of your shoes and relax by the enormous open fire, pick a book out from our floor to ceiling book selves or have a go at making a cocktail behind our rosewood bar.

There are also plenty of quite spots around the farm to enjoy. Have a walk down by the river and find a secluded bench, sit in the hanging swing so comfy you will find it hard to leave or enjoy the warmth of the sun on a sunbed with the sound of the gurgling river flowing past you.

Hosted by/The Team:

Olepangi Farm is family owned and run and we like to make every guest feel part of the family. The owners Clinton and Elizabeth split their time between Nairobi and the farm and are there to host on most weekends. Stewart and Louise manage the day to day running of the farm and are there full time to host and coordinate guest’s activities.

Samson is our head chef and has trained in France. We like to use local, fresh ingredients and Samson’s inventive cooking makes meal times a real event at the farm.

Activities:

• Day rides (2 or 4 hour)

• Beginner riding lessons in our all-weather school

• Polo lessons for experienced riders

• Archery targets

• Croquet competitions

• Farm walks and school visits
