Set in the heart of the Aberdare National Park with an area of 767 Km2 covers the higher areas of the Aberdare Mountain Ranger of Central Kenya, from altitude of 1829M to 4001M above sea level. Animals easily observed in the park include; the Black Rhino, leopard, baboon, black and white Colobus monkey and sykes monkey. Rarer sightings include those of lions, the golden cat and the bongo- an elusive forest antelope that lives in the bamboo forest. Animals like the eland and spotted and melanocytic several cats can be found higher up in the moorlands.
The room at the Ark whether single, twin, double or triple configuration, is tastefully yet simply furnished to give you a level of comfort that keeps you relaxed through out your stay. The room is self-contained with en-suite shower and bathroom.

The Ark is an historic Kenyan property whose distinction comes from a reversal of the game drive -- animals come to the people instead of the other way around. It is a unique game lodge that overlooks a floodlit waterhole and salt lick which attracts a host of wildlife. This lodge uniquely resembles the actual Ark, having numerous balconies and lounges. These balconies and lounges provide superb views of animals visiting the salt-lick and waterhole. There is a ground level bunker at the Ark which is a great way for excellent photography.
Ark Lodge is a five star lodge which has 60 guestrooms to offer. There are all the comforts expected by guests with high class service.
The guest rooms are all en-suite. All cabins have private bathrooms with shower, and are comfortably furnished with bedside lamps and carpeted floors to ward off the evening and morning chill. Close to your room are views of the forest or waterhole, revealing game.
The Main Dining Room is set off from the Bar. Long tables are softly lit, and the split-level room has a glass wall with superb views of the dense forest. The menu is a cosmopolitan combination of European and Kenyan dishes, made from fresh Kenyan produce. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are Table d'hôte.
Located on one of the viewing decks is a bar with a variety of wines and liqueurs available and a lounge which remain open all night for tea and coffee.
